INFORMATION

Eugine Percy MacDonnell enlisted on the 9th of September 1915 and was placed with B Company 35th Battalion AIF and left Sydney on board HMAT A24 "Benalla" on the 1st of May 1916. Eugene returned to Australia on the 11th of May 1919 on HMAT A30 "Borda"

Family Information

Eugine was a single 22 year old clerk from Waverley Street, Sydney upon enlistment where he lived with his mother Annie MacDonnell. Eugene was a Roman Catholic. His parents James and Annie Macdonnell were married in 1890 and had 2 children. Joseph Francis Macdonnell born 1892 at Bathurst, N.S.W. Birth Cert:6265/1892 and died in 1954 at Randwick, N.S.W. death Cert:3657/1954. Eugene Percy Macdonnell born 1893 at Bathurst, N.S.W. Birth Cert:6532/1893.

Eugine's British War:40884 and Victory Medal:40068 to PTE E.P.MACDONNELL 35 BN A.I.F. were acquired in 2003 from a dealer in Perth, Western Australia and are now in the collection. Eugene was issued a replacement Returned from Active Service Badge:12524 on the 31/10/1951.
