INFORMATION

Clifford Arthur Jacobs enlisted on the 8th of December 1915 and went to camp in Liverpool he was recruited to D Company, 35th Battalion AIF. Clifford was an original member of the battalion and left Sydney on board HMAT A24 Benalla on the 1st of May 1916, and disembarked at Plymoth, England and to camp at Salisbury Plains on the 9th of July 1916. Clifford was sick in camp at Parkhouse Camp betwwen 20th July to 2nd of August 1916 before embarking from Southampton for France on the 21st of November 1916 and into the line near Armentieres.

Clifford was Severley Wounded in Action with a gun shot to the left arm on the 17th of July 1917 near Messines in France and evacuated to Abbeville. Clifford was evacuated to England per "Grantully Castle" on the 25th of July 1917 and admitted to the 1st Southern General Hospital at Bristol in England. He was sent to Weymouth Camp on the 15th of August 1917. He embarked from England per "Suevic" on the 27th of September 1917 and disembarked in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on the 20th of November 1917. Clifford was discharged Medically Unfit on the 24th of January 1918.

Clifford was a labourer from Branxton prior to enlistment.

Clifford's British War:41794 and Victory Medal:40939 to PTE 1155 C.A.JACOBS 35BN AIF and his gold fob from the residents of Branxton were aquired in February 2005 and are now in the collection. to Australia on the 27th of September 1917. Clifford's gold fob was presented to him by the residents of Branxton.

Death Cert:24582/1958.Arthur Grant Jacobs born 1897 at Branxton, N.S.W. Birth Cert:10739/1897 and died in 1972 at Cessnock, N.S.W. Death Cert:63387/1972. Harold James Jacobs born 1900 at Branxton, N.S.W. Birth Cert:1817/1900 and died in 1966 at Maitland, N.S.W. Death Cert:2591/1966.
