Private: 3142 Cyril ELLIOTT.

Born: 1893. Cowra, New South Wales, Australia. Birth Cert: 12091/1893

Died: 5th of October 1917. Killed in Action Belgium.

Father: Alexander P Elliott.

Cyril Elliott enlisted with the 8th Reinforcements 55th Battalion AIF on the 4th on October 1916 and left Sydney on board HMAT A29"Suevic" on the 11th of November 1916 and disembarked at Devonport England on the 30th January 1917. Cyril was marched out to the 14th Training Battalion at Hurdcott and was marched out to Windmill Hill on the 28th April 1917 and proceeded overseas for France via Southampton on the 23rd August and was marched in at Rouelles on the 24th of August and was marched out to the front on the 1st of September and taken on in strength with the 35th Battalion and was Killed in Action in Belgium on the 5th of October 1917.


Cyril is remembered with honour and is commemerated in perpetuity by the Commonweath War Graves Commission at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial Belgium.


Family Information

Cyril was a single 23 year old Railway Fireman from Yass, New South Wales upon enlistment.
